Which digestion claims are actually allowed
In Great Britain a supplement can only use health claims from the official register, and for digestion the register is nearly empty. Calcium contributes to the normal function of digestive enzymes. Lactase enzyme improves lactose digestion for people who have difficulty digesting it, at 4,500 FCC units a serving. Live yoghurt cultures improve lactose digestion, in yoghurt only. That is the whole list. Live culture tablets, enzyme complexes, betaine HCl, berberine, dandelion, cayenne, chlorella and turmeric have no authorised claim, however they are sold; "probiotic" may be used as a category name and nothing more; and no supplement can claim anything about bloating, IBS, reflux or gut health. Live cultures: strain named, CFU counted
A live culture product is only as meaningful as its declaration. Ours names Lactobacillus acidophilus and states 500 million CFU per tablet. Many products give a blend weight in milligrams and no strain or CFU at all; a milligram figure tells you nothing about viable organisms. Declaring it is not a claim, it is what lets you compare.
Enzymes: all five itemised
DigeZyme PRO lists amylase, protease, lactase, lipase and cellulase individually, rather than a proprietary blend name. Non-animal, vegan, GMO-free. The lactase is below the 4,500 FCC threshold for the lactose claim, so we do not make it.
Botanicals: ratio and equivalent published
A 1,000mg botanical tablet can mean 1,000mg of raw powder or 100mg of a 10:1 extract. Every botanical here states the ratio and the raw equivalent so you can tell which you are buying.
Capsules without fillers, tablets labelled honestly

What is CFU and why does it matter?
Colony Forming Units, the count of viable live culture organisms per serving. Our Acidophilus tablets declare 500 million CFU of Lactobacillus acidophilus with the strain named. Many products state a blend weight in milligrams without naming the strain or declaring CFU, which makes comparison impossible. Declaring it is not a claim; it is what lets you compare.
What is in the DigeZyme PRO enzyme complex?

Does betaine HCl help digestion?
No claim can be made for that. Betaine's one authorised claim is that it contributes to normal homocysteine metabolism, at 500mg a day, which is not a digestive claim. Our betaine HCl is sold on assay and betaine content, with the homocysteine claim where the dose supports it.
What does a 10:1 extract ratio mean?
Ten parts of raw herb concentrated into one part of extract. Our berberine tablets contain 100mg of 10:1 extract, equivalent to 1,000mg of herb. We publish both figures so you can compare against products quoting raw powder weight.
Is berberine safe with medication?
