Potassium Citrate Pro 1000mg Capsules UK
Tri-Potassium Citrate · 358mg Elemental Potassium · 3 Authorised Health Claims
1000mg of the salt is not 1000mg of potassium. We publish both figures, because most listings publish only the bigger one.
Food supplement — not a medicine.
⚠️ IMPORTANT — DO NOT BUY THIS WITHOUT READING
Potassium is cleared from the body by the kidneys. If your kidneys are not clearing it normally, or you take a medicine that holds potassium in the body, additional potassium can build up to unsafe levels in the blood. This is not a theoretical risk and it is why potassium is treated differently from other minerals.
Speak to your GP before taking this product if you:
▸ Have any kidney condition or reduced kidney function
▸ Take an ACE inhibitor or an angiotensin receptor blocker (common blood pressure medicines)
▸ Take a potassium-sparing diuretic or any potassium-containing medicine or salt substitute
▸ Have a heart condition, diabetes, adrenal insufficiency or Addison's disease
▸ Have a stomach ulcer or a condition that slows movement through the gut
One capsule daily with food. Do not exceed one capsule per day without medical advice. Take it with a full glass of water and never on an empty stomach.
Buy potassium citrate capsules UK direct from Charge Products — tri-potassium citrate at 1000mg per capsule, encapsulated in-house at our own 5 Star FSA rated facility in Southend-on-Sea, Essex. E332(ii) food grade, minimum 99% assay, in a vegan HPMC shell with nothing else added.
Each capsule provides 358mg of elemental potassium — 18% of the Nutrient Reference Value. That distinction matters: a great many mineral listings quote the compound weight in the title and never publish the mineral weight underneath it, and the two are very different numbers. We publish both on every mineral we sell.
Three authorised EU/UK health claims apply to potassium and all three are stated below in their exact authorised wording. Seven pack sizes from £7.99 to £52.99, working down to 10.6p per capsule on the largest. UK-held stock, same-day dispatch before 3:30pm Monday to Friday, free UK delivery over £10. Compound Weight vs Elemental Potassium
The figure most mineral listings leave out.
| Per capsule | Amount | %NRV |
|---|---|---|
| Tri-potassium citrate (the salt) | 1000mg | — |
| Potassium (the mineral) | 358mg | 18% |
Potassium citrate is a salt — potassium bound to citric acid. Between 35.79% and 36.16% of the compound's weight is the mineral itself. A listing headlining 1000mg is describing the salt, not the potassium, and if it does not publish the elemental figure underneath you cannot tell what you are actually getting. NRV for potassium is 2000mg.
Three Authorised UK Health Claims — And What They Mean
These are the only claims made for this product, stated in the exact wording authorised under retained Regulation EC No 1924/2006. Each is followed by a plain-language explanation of the mechanism. The explanation describes how the mineral works; it adds nothing to the claim itself.
🧠 "Potassium contributes to normal functioning of the nervous system"
Nerve cells signal by moving charged particles across their membranes. Potassium is the main positively charged ion inside the cell and sodium the main one outside, and the difference between them creates the electrical gradient a nerve impulse travels along. Every nerve signal in the body depends on that potassium gradient being maintained.
💪 "Potassium contributes to normal muscle function"
Muscle contraction is triggered by the same electrical mechanism. A muscle fibre contracts when its membrane potential changes, and that potential is set by the balance of potassium inside the cell against sodium outside it. This applies to skeletal muscle and to the heart, which is why the body regulates potassium so tightly.
🩺 "Potassium contributes to the maintenance of normal blood pressure"
Potassium and sodium work against each other in the kidneys' regulation of fluid balance, and fluid balance is one of the things that determines blood pressure. Potassium also has a relaxing effect on blood vessel walls. The claim refers to maintaining normal blood pressure, not to lowering raised blood pressure — if yours is high, that is a matter for your GP.
Note: these explanations describe established physiology. They are not claims about treating, preventing or improving any condition, and none is made.

Why a Size 00 Capsule Holds 1000mg With No Filler
A size 00 capsule holds roughly 700mg of a typical supplement powder. Tri-potassium citrate is considerably denser than most, so the same shell takes 1000mg of it without anything being added to make up volume.
That matters because bulking agents are usually added for one of two reasons — either the active is too light to fill the shell, or the fill weight is being padded out. Neither applies here. The capsule contains the salt and the shell, and that is the entire ingredient list.
Raw Material Testing & Compliance

Arsenic (As) — max 1.0 mg/kg
Cadmium (Cd) — max 1.0 mg/kg
Mercury (Hg) — max 0.1 mg/kg

Compliance confirmed
TSE/BSE free · non-GM · non-irradiated
No nandrolone or precursors
No IOC or WADA banned substances
Not tested on animals · within EU pesticide MRLs
No declarable allergens. The dossier records every one of the 14 UK named allergens as absent and not handled at the manufacturing site, so there is no cross-contamination route. The only additive declaration is the material itself — E332(ii). The IOC and WADA compliance statement matters if you are a tested athlete — it is rarely published on a consumer listing and we publish it because we hold it.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much actual potassium is in each capsule?
1000mg of tri-potassium citrate provides approximately 358mg of elemental potassium — 18% of the Nutrient Reference Value. The compound weight and the mineral weight are very different figures and we publish both, because 1000mg of the salt is not 1000mg of potassium.
Who should not take a potassium supplement?
Do not take this without speaking to your GP first if you have any kidney condition or reduced kidney function, or take an ACE inhibitor, an angiotensin receptor blocker, a potassium-sparing diuretic or any other medicine affecting potassium levels. Potassium is cleared by the kidneys, and additional intake can raise blood potassium to unsafe levels in anyone who cannot clear it normally.
How many capsules a day?
One, with food and a full glass of water. Do not exceed one capsule per day without medical advice. Potassium is one of the few minerals where more is not better — the body regulates it tightly, and excess carries real risk for anyone whose kidneys are not clearing it normally.
Why potassium citrate rather than chloride?
Citrate is the form we encapsulate. It carries a lower chloride load than potassium chloride and is the form commonly used where the salt is intended to be alkalising rather than neutral. Both deliver potassium; they differ in the accompanying anion and in how the salt behaves in solution.
Does it contain fillers?
No. Tri-potassium citrate and a vegan HPMC capsule shell, nothing else. No fillers, no binders, no anti-caking agents, no flow agents. The powder is dense enough to fill a size 00 capsule at 1000mg without any bulking agent.
What are the authorised health claims?
Three: potassium contributes to normal functioning of the nervous system; potassium contributes to normal muscle function; and potassium contributes to the maintenance of normal blood pressure. Those are the only claims made, and they are stated in their exact authorised wording.
Is it suitable for vegans?
Yes. The shell is vegan HPMC, a plant-derived cellulose material, and tri-potassium citrate is a mineral salt. No animal-derived material at any stage.
When should I take it?
With food and a full glass of water, never on an empty stomach. Concentrated potassium salts can irritate the stomach lining if taken without food.
What pack sizes and prices are available?
Seven sizes from £7.99 to £52.99 — 30 capsules £7.99, 60 £9.99, 90 £11.99, 120 £14.99, 180 £23.99, 300 £35.99 and 500 £52.99. Every pack includes 2 extra capsules over the stated count. The 500 pack works out at 10.6p per capsule and is over sixteen months supply at one a day.
Do you offer a subscription or instalments?
Both. Subscribe and save 10% on every order, frequency chosen at checkout, pause or cancel any time. Orders over £50 can be spread across 3 interest-free instalments with Klarna or Shop Pay — subject to status and eligibility, 18+, UK residents.
Do you supply wholesale?
