Which skin, hair and nail claims are actually allowed
In Great Britain a supplement can only use health claims from the official register. For skin, hair and nails the register names a short list of nutrients: biotin, niacin, riboflavin, vitamin A, iodine, zinc, selenium, copper and vitamin C, each with fixed wording about maintaining normal skin, hair or nails. Collagen, hyaluronic acid, L-arginine, moringa, chlorella, NMN and every "beauty blend" have no such claim, however they are sold, and no supplement can claim to treat acne, wrinkles or hair loss. This page is in three parts. Part 1 is supplements containing one of the named nutrients above the claim threshold, where the claim is used. Part 2 is the supplement ingredients people buy for skin that have no authorised claim, sold on specification. Part 3 is skincare you put on the outside, regulated as cosmetics rather than food, with no health claims of its own.
What the claims mean, nutrient by nutrient
| Nutrient | Authorised claim | What it means | Threshold per day |
|---|---|---|---|
| Niacin (vitamin B3) | Niacin contributes to the maintenance of normal skin | Skin cells turn over constantly and need the coenzymes made from B3 to release energy. Nicotinamide and nicotinic acid both carry it. | 2.4mg |
| Vitamin C | Vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of skin | The enzymes that build collagen need vitamin C as a cofactor. Normal function, not increased collagen. | 12mg |
| Zinc | Zinc contributes to the maintenance of normal skin, normal hair and normal nails | Three separate claims for fast-renewing tissues with a steady zinc requirement. | 1.5mg |
| Copper | Copper contributes to normal hair pigmentation and normal skin pigmentation | Copper is needed by the enzyme that makes melanin. Pigmentation kept normal, not changed. | 0.15mg |
| Biotin, riboflavin, vitamin A, iodine, selenium | Same shape of wording for each | Not currently in our range as standalone products; listed so you know the full set. | 7.5µg · 0.21mg · 120µg · 22.5µg · 8.25µg |
Every claim above says "normal". Clear skin, glowing skin, anti-ageing, wrinkle reduction, hair growth and acne are not authorised for any nutrient. Our product names describe the routine, not a result.

Read this first. None of the products below has an authorised health claim in Great Britain, for skin or for anything else. They are here because people search for them as skin supplements and deserve a straight answer about the law. Each is sold on what it is: form, amount, extract ratio and test results. Nothing more is implied, and the product names describe a routine, not a result.
L-arginine
Botanicals, NMN and others
Sunless Tanning Drops 60ml

These are cosmetics, not supplements: applied to the skin, never swallowed, and regulated separately from food. They are described by what they contain and how to use them, with no health claims. Patch-test any new product on a small area first, and keep retinol to evening use with sunscreen the next day.
Retinol Eye Stick 3g
Moisturising balm with retinol (vitamin A) in a stick applicator, for evening use around the eyes.

Persistent acne, hair loss or a skin condition is a GP or dermatologist matter, not a supplement one. Zinc: keep total supplemental zinc under 25mg a day; take after food. Nicotinic acid causes a temporary flush; take with food. L-arginine: not with blood pressure or heart medicines, including nitrates, without advice. Iron: only if you need it; keep out of reach of children. Liposomal vitamin C products contain soya. Skincare: external use only; retinol is not advised in pregnancy; patch-test first. Not for under 18s, or during pregnancy or breastfeeding without advice.
Choosing between them
| If you want | Choose | Because |

| Skin, hair and nails from one product | Triple Zinc + Copper | Zinc carries all three claims; copper adds pigmentation |

| Something to put on your skin | Part 3 above | Cosmetics for external use, described by ingredients and directions |

Which vitamins are good for skin, hair and nails?
The nutrients with an authorised UK claim naming them: for normal skin, biotin, niacin (vitamin B3), riboflavin, vitamin A, iodine and zinc; for normal hair, biotin, selenium and zinc; for normal nails, selenium and zinc; vitamin C for normal collagen formation for the normal function of skin; and copper for normal hair and skin pigmentation. In our range that means the B3 products, the vitamin C products and the zinc and copper products.
Can a supplement treat acne, wrinkles or hair loss?
No, and no supplement can lawfully claim to. Acne is a medical condition, hair loss has medical causes, and wrinkles are not something any nutrient is authorised to affect. The claims are about maintaining normal skin, hair and nails in someone whose skin, hair and nails are already normal.
What about L-arginine, collagen, moringa, chlorella or NMN for skin?
None has an authorised skin claim in Great Britain. Collagen supplements have no authorised claim either, whatever the packaging says. We sell L-arginine, moringa, chlorella and NMN on specification, in Part 2 below, without claiming anything for skin.
Why is vitamin B3 in a skin collection?
Niacin, in both the nicotinic acid and nicotinamide forms, carries the authorised claim that it contributes to the maintenance of normal skin, among six claims. Nicotinamide is the non-flush form and the one usually chosen for this reason.
Does vitamin C help collagen?
The authorised wording is that vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of skin. The enzymes that build collagen need vitamin C. That is different from claiming a product increases collagen or reduces wrinkles, neither of which is authorised.
How much zinc is too much?
Keep supplemental zinc under 25mg a day; above that, long-term, reduces copper absorption. Zinc products here declare the elemental figure. Take zinc after food.
Are the skincare products here supplements?
No. The retinol eye stick and vitamin C serum are cosmetics for external use only, regulated under the UK Cosmetics Regulation rather than food law. They carry no health claims; they are described by what they contain and how to use them. Never take a cosmetic by mouth.
Do you supply these wholesale?
Yes. Tablets and capsules in trade counts, B3 and liposomal vitamin C powders in bulk, white label available. Use the contact page for a trade price.

Food supplements, not medicines. Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or condition, including acne, eczema, psoriasis, hair loss or any skin condition. The claims on this page are the authorised Great Britain claims for niacin, vitamin C, zinc and copper in register wording, and concern the maintenance of normal skin, hair, nails and pigmentation only; they apply to the Part 1 products and to no others. L-arginine, moringa, chlorella, lion's mane, NMN, bee pollen and the tanning drops have no authorised health claims and none are made; product names describe a routine, not a result. The retinol eye stick and vitamin C serum are cosmetics for external use only, regulated under the UK Cosmetics Regulation, and carry no health claims. Read the cautions on each product page. Consult your GP if you take medication, have a medical condition, or are pregnant or breastfeeding. Not for under 18s. Iron-containing products must be kept out of reach of children.
