Which antioxidant claims are actually allowed
In Great Britain a supplement can only use health claims from the official register. The claim "contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress" is authorised for vitamin C, vitamin E, riboflavin (B2), zinc, copper, selenium and manganese. Everything else sold as an antioxidant, from CoQ10 and turmeric to resveratrol and NMN, has no such claim, and no seller can lawfully say it does anything for oxidative stress. That does not make those ingredients pointless to sell; it means they have to be sold on what they are, not on what they do. This page is in two parts. Part 1 is products containing one of the seven, above the claim threshold, where the claim is used. Part 2 is the ingredients people buy as antioxidants that have no authorised claim: CoQ10, NMN, turmeric, matcha and the rest. We sell those on specification and say nothing about what they do, because nothing is authorised. You should know which is which before you buy from anyone.

Which supplements are antioxidants, legally?
Seven nutrients carry the authorised claim that they contribute to the protection of cells from oxidative stress: vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin B2 (riboflavin), zinc, copper, selenium and manganese. No other ingredient can make that claim in Great Britain, however it is marketed.
What does "protection of cells from oxidative stress" mean?
Normal metabolism produces reactive by-products, and the body has its own systems for dealing with them. Vitamin C is one of the water-soluble molecules in that system; zinc and copper are part of an antioxidant enzyme. The claim says the nutrient takes part in that normal process. It does not say the supplement removes toxins, slows ageing or prevents disease.
What about CoQ10, NMN, turmeric, green tea, milk thistle or resveratrol?
None has an authorised antioxidant claim in Great Britain, so no seller can lawfully say they do anything for oxidative stress. They are on this page because people buy them as antioxidants and should be able to compare them honestly. Each is sold on its form, amount, extract ratio and testing, with no claim made. The product cards below say which tier every product sits in.
Is this a detox supplement page?
No. There is no authorised claim for detox, cleansing or toxin removal for any food supplement, and the ASA has ruled against "detox" repeatedly. This collection is built on the one authorised claim in this area, and nothing beyond it.
How much do I need for the claim to apply?
At least 15% of the reference value per daily serving: 12mg vitamin C, 1.5mg zinc, 0.15mg copper. Every product here is well above its threshold.
Can I take vitamin C and zinc together?
