What it means: the body needs an adequate zinc supply to keep testosterone within its normal range. When healthy young men were put on a zinc-restricted diet, their testosterone fell (Prasad et al., 1996). The word that matters is maintenance. In men who already got enough zinc, extra zinc did not raise testosterone (Koehler et al., 2009). Nothing sold as a food supplement can lawfully claim to raise it.

Zinc bisglycinate is zinc bound to two molecules of the amino acid glycine, a chelate. It is the form most often chosen where stomach comfort matters, because unchelated zinc salts are the usual cause of nausea with zinc supplements. 40mg of bisglycinate provides 8mg of zinc, 80% of the reference value, which is enough for every authorised zinc claim while leaving room under the UK guidance figure of 25mg a day if your diet or a multivitamin adds more.
