TWO INGREDIENTS · NO FILLERS · ONE A DAY · UK SINCE 2016
NR & CoQ10 400mg Capsules
200mg Nicotinamide Riboside Chloride · 200mg Coenzyme Q10 · Vegan HPMC
Food supplement — not a medicine.
QUICK ANSWER
Each 400mg capsule holds 200mg nicotinamide riboside chloride and 200mg coenzyme Q10 — two ingredients in a vegan HPMC shell, no fillers or binders. One capsule daily with food. Neither ingredient has any authorised UK health claim, so this page tells you what is in the capsule and nothing about what it does. That is not a gap in the page — it is the honest position, and the section below explains why.
⚠️ ONE CAPSULE A DAY — THIS IS A LEGAL MAXIMUM, NOT A SUGGESTION
Nicotinamide riboside chloride is an authorised novel food in Great Britain under authorisation NOVEL-96. That authorisation sets a maximum intake of 300mg per day for the general adult population, and 230mg per day for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
| Capsules | NR chloride | Against the 300mg maximum |
|---|---|---|
| 1 capsule | 200mg | Within the maximum ✓ |
| 2 capsules | 400mg | Exceeds it by a third ✗ |
| 3 capsules | 600mg | Double the maximum ✗ |
So: one capsule a day, with food. Never two. If you also take another nicotinamide riboside product, count it — the 300mg maximum applies to your total daily intake across everything, not per product.
Why This Page Makes No Health Claims
Neither nicotinamide riboside nor coenzyme Q10 has an authorised health claim in Great Britain. We cannot tell you what either one does — and neither can anyone else who is following the rules. That is worth understanding properly, because it is not what most people assume.
1. Almost nothing is authorised
Member states put forward over 44,000 claims when the regulation came in. Around 220 were authorised. The register is dominated by vitamins and minerals, whose roles were established through deficiency research decades ago. For almost everything else the answer was no, whatever the substance.
2. Most fell at the paperwork
EFSA sent more than 2,000 claims straight back as too vague, poorly described, lacking stated conditions of use, or with the substance not properly characterised. Those were failures of the submission, not findings that a substance does nothing. A claim never properly put is not a claim disproved.
3. Nobody owns an ingredient
A proper dossier costs a great deal and takes years. Whoever funded one for CoQ10 would hand the resulting claim to every competitor selling the same ingredient, free. There is no commercial case, so it does not get done — which is why the register looks the way it does.
On nicotinamide riboside specifically, there is a further point people often miss. NR holds a novel food authorisation, and that is a safety and permitted-use decision — it says the substance is safe to sell within stated limits. It is not an assessment of any benefit, and it is not approval of one.
What this means when you compare products. A UK listing that promises you what NR or CoQ10 will do is making an unauthorised claim. It does not mean they know something we don't — it means they are breaking a rule we are keeping. So judge both on what is actually in the capsule, which is the one thing every seller can be held to.

All figures above are measured results from the manufacturers' batch certificates of analysis, not third-party testing — we say so rather than letting you assume otherwise. Both certificates are available on request.
🔬 The CoQ10 Number Almost Nobody Publishes
Coenzyme Q10 comes in two geometric forms. The one your body makes and uses is the all-trans form. The (2Z) cis isomer is a manufacturing by-product — the same atoms, arranged differently, and not the form found in human tissue.
Cheaper CoQ10 can carry a meaningful share of it. Ours is tested and reported at 0.3%, against a USP limit of 1.0% — so better than three times inside the allowance. Related coenzymes Q7, Q8, Q9 and Q11 come in at 0.8% against a 1.0% limit, and total related substances at 1.1% against 1.5%.
Residual solvents are reported with actual numbers too, by gas chromatography: ethanol and ethyl acetate not detected, n-hexane at 2ppm against a 290ppm limit, methanol at 76ppm against 3000ppm. Most certificates in this market either skip solvents entirely or print the word "conforms".
Identity is confirmed by infrared spectrum matched against a reference standard and by melting point, 50.0–51.0°C against a 48–52°C specification. The material is made to the USP-NF 2025 monograph and assays at 98.8%.
🟠 Why The Capsule Contents Are Orange
Coenzyme Q10 is a bright orange-yellow crystalline powder in its natural state. Mixed with the off-white nicotinamide riboside, the capsule contents come out somewhere between pale yellow and deep orange depending on the batch. That colour is the CoQ10 itself, not a dye or a coating.
Shade varies a little between batches, which is normal for a natural pigment and is not a quality issue. A CoQ10 product that is pure white should raise an eyebrow, not reassure you.
It also stains. If you open a capsule, do it over something you don't mind marking.
📋 How To Take It
1. One capsule a day. Never two. One capsule is 200mg of nicotinamide riboside chloride, inside the 300mg daily maximum. Two would put you over it.
2. Take it with food, and ideally a meal with some fat in it. CoQ10 is fat soluble, so it is absorbed better alongside food than on an empty stomach. This is the single practical thing that affects how much of the CoQ10 you actually take up.
3. Any time of day works. Pick the meal you are least likely to skip and stick to it.
4. Count other NR products. The 300mg maximum is your total across everything, not per product. If you also take NR powder or another NR capsule, add them up.
5. Keep the pack sealed, cool and dry, out of direct sunlight.
⚠️ Speak To Your GP First If You
▸ Take warfarin or any anticoagulant — CoQ10 is structurally similar to vitamin K and has been reported to reduce warfarin's effect in some people
▸ Take blood pressure medication
▸ Take insulin or diabetes medication
▸ Take chemotherapy or are under oncology care
▸ Take any other prescribed medication, or have any diagnosed medical condition
Adults 18+ only. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, note that the NOVEL-96 maximum drops to 230mg of nicotinamide riboside chloride a day — one capsule at 200mg is inside that, but speak to your GP before taking any supplement.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many capsules a day?
One, with food. Never two. One capsule is 200mg of nicotinamide riboside chloride; the GB maximum is 300mg a day, so two capsules would exceed it.
What does it do?
We are not permitted to tell you, because no health claim is authorised for either ingredient. Anyone who does tell you is making an unauthorised claim. Judge it on the specification instead.
Why with food?
CoQ10 is fat soluble and is absorbed better with a meal containing some fat than on an empty stomach. It is the one practical thing you can do that affects uptake.
Ubiquinone or ubiquinol?
Ubiquinone — the oxidised form, which is the standard supplement form and the one used in most published research. It is also considerably more stable than ubiquinol, which oxidises readily once exposed to air.
Why are the capsule contents orange?
That is the CoQ10, which is naturally a bright orange-yellow powder. No dye is added. Shade varies slightly between batches, which is normal.
Is the NR third-party tested?
No. The NR figures come from the manufacturer's batch certificate, which is not the same thing as independent testing, and we would rather say so than let you assume. Our NMN is Eurofins tested; the NR is not, and we do not pretend otherwise.
