🏭 Where It Started — Southend-on-Sea, 2016
Charge Products — trading as Big Idea Services Ltd (Company No. 11645389) — has been producing supplements at our own in-house facility in Southend-on-Sea, Essex since 2016. That is over a decade of UK supplement manufacturing from a fixed, inspected, publicly accountable location at Unit 1, 8 Towerfield Road, Towerfield Industrial Estate.
We didn't start as an NMN brand. We started as a supplement supplier with the belief that quality, transparency and honest labelling were more important than marketing. That belief hasn't changed. 💊 Why Self-Encapsulation Matters
We self-encapsulate our NMN range at our own facility. This is rarer than most people realise. The majority of UK supplement brands — including many that position themselves as premium — use contract manufacturers. They source a bulk ingredient, send it to a third-party facility, and receive finished capsules back. They have limited visibility of what happens in between.

You may have seen the water dissolve test suggested online for NMN. We are going to be honest — it is a gimmick. Most common fillers including Microcrystalline Cellulose (MCC) dissolve in water too, so a clean water result tells you very little about what is actually in the capsule. The real test is sublingual — under the tongue — and it tells you far more than any glass of water ever will. Here is exactly how to spot the difference between genuine zero-filler NMN and what we call the filler cowboys — brands that bulk out cheap capsules with excipients and charge a premium for it.
✅ What genuine 99.99% pure NMN does under the tongue
Pure NMN dissolves almost instantly under the tongue — within a few seconds. It should taste clean and slightly zesty — like a brief, fresh citrus-like note that clears fast. No bitterness. No chalky residue. Gone in seconds. That is your benchmark. If it does not dissolve fast and taste clean and zesty — something is off.
❌ Slow dissolve — a sign of fillers
If NMN takes a long time to dissolve under the tongue or leaves a chalky, gritty sensation that lingers — this strongly suggests fillers like MCC or binders that do not break down at the same rate as pure NMN. Zero-filler NMN dissolves fast. Filled NMN lingers.
❌ Strong bitter aftertaste — most likely B3 Nicotinamide
Pure NMN has a clean, brief zesty note that clears quickly. A strong, prolonged bitter aftertaste is a very common sign that the product contains B3 Nicotinamide (Niacinamide) — a cheap NAD+ precursor that costs a fraction of the price of genuine NMN. Some brands blend or substitute B3 Nicotinamide into NMN products without declaring it clearly. B3 Nicotinamide has a distinctly bitter, medicinal aftertaste that is very different from the clean zesty note of pure NMN. If it tastes strongly and persistently bitter — it almost certainly is not pure NMN. Educational context only.
❌ No taste at all — the biggest red flag
If your NMN has absolutely no taste under the tongue it is almost certainly heavily diluted with a tasteless filler or contains significantly less NMN than stated. Pure NMN at 500mg per capsule will always have a noticeable zesty taste. No taste means low dose or low quality.
⚖️ The Capsule Weight Check — The Most Overlooked Test
This is one of the simplest and most reliable home checks for NMN purity. A standard size 0 HPMC capsule weighs approximately 90–100mg empty. Pure NMN has a specific density — a genuine 500mg NMN capsule should weigh approximately 590–610mg in total.
If your 500mg NMN capsule weighs significantly more than 610mg — say 750mg, 800mg or more — the excess weight is filler. It cannot be anything else. You can verify this with a basic digital kitchen scale that measures to 0.1g. Our 500mg NMN capsules weigh approximately 600mg. If yours weigh 800mg and claim to be pure NMN with no fillers — the maths simply do not add up.
